Connie Elaine Brouwer was born October 25,1943 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Her parents, Henry and Anna Van Haaften Sedrel, lived in Leighton, Iowa. Connie was raised in Leighton, along with her older sister Carol. She went to school in Leighton through the eighth grade. While in grade school, Connie was a writer for the Pella Chronicle. She walked around Leighton and asked if anyone had any news to share. Connie graduated from Pella High School in 1962.

Connie met Bob, her future husband, in high school. They were married on May 24, 1963 at Leighton Ebenezer Reformed Church. After getting married, Bob and Connie lived in Pella and were members of Trinity Reformed Church.

Connie worked at the Dutch Buffet when it first opened. She worked there until they decided to start a family. They had 2 children, Michael and Mary. Later, Connie did some book-keeping work, worked part time at Lee’s Variety, Town Crier and eventually, at a couple other stores in downtown Pella.

While living in Leighton, Connie sang with the Jubilairs at Ebenezer Reformed Church which she enjoyed. She got a lot of pleasure from gardening, canning, working on the yard and painting with Bob. Connie was always happy to help her family with any yard work and painting they may have needed done. For recreation, Connie enjoyed fishing and camping with her family. She was also a great cook.

Connie enjoyed going to her children’s and grandchildren’s activities when they were in school. She loved spending time with her family, was very proud of them and loved them very much. Connie was excited about her new great grandson, Jack Michael.

Connie passed away on April 16, 2020. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior where she is free from pain and suffering.
