CONWAY, NC – John Douglas Blowe, Sr., age 76, of Lake Road, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 at the WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, NC.

Doug was born on November 28, 1943 to the late Noah Douglas Blowe and Flossie Blowe in Hertford County, NC. Doug worked many years for Georgia Pacific where he retired as a supervisor. He served 45 years with the National Guard, providing service to his state and nation. He proudly served as a volunteer fire fighter, joining the Conway Volunteer Fire Department in 1966, helping to protect his community for over 50 years.He was a loving family man and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports as well as playing sports himself in his younger days. He was an extremely hard worker and was a talented handyman. An avid outdoorsman, Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and trips to the beach. He would often be caught by the television watching the Fox News. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Doug is survived by his daughter, Sharon Singer and husband Larry of Roanoke Rapids; son, John Douglas Blowe Jr. and wife Kelly of Wake Forest; three granddaughters, Molly Jordan Hargrave of Raleigh, Hannah Claire Blowe of Wake Forest, and Lilly Grace Blowe of Wake Forest; two grandsons, Avery Randall Hargrave of Lake Gaston, and John Douglas Blowe, III of Wake Forest; and brother, George Blowe of Roanoke Rapids.

Due to the circumstances, friends can view and pay their respects to Doug Friday, April 10, 2020, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC.

A private family celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2020, at 2:00 pm at the Conway Baptist Church, Conway, NC, with Rev. Jayson Rowe and Rev. Willie McLawhorn officiating with a public graveside burial to follow at Conway Cemetery, Conway, NC.
