James John Armstrong

James John Armstrong was born January 1, 1854 near Bellinmallard, Fermanagh county, Ireland and departed this life February 28 at his home. He was 79 years and 2 months old.

At the age of 16 he came to America and settled in Benton county Iowa. On March 2, 1876 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Margaret Alice Murphy. This union was blessed with eleven children, four having preceded him in death.

Left to mourn his loss are his wife and seven children: Edwin L. Armstrong, Seattle, Washington; Leslie H. Armstrong, Vancouver, British Columbia; E. E. Armstrong, Reno, Nevada; Mrs. Fern Snodgrass, Bakersfield, California; Zelda Armstrong and Mrs. Kathleen McCrory of the home address; and Mrs. Gladyee Wilkinson, Bates City, Missouri.

He also is survived by three brothers and one sister, Robert Thomas and William Armstrong of Fontanelle, Iowa, and Mrs. Isabelle Lovell of Seattle, Washington. Also by three grandchildren, Staten, Gloria, and Babe Snodgrass of Bakersfield, California.

He was converted and united with the Methodist church at an early age. On March 2, 1902 he moved to El Dorado Springs, where he resided until the master called him home. Funeral services were held at the family residence Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. Walter Martin and interment was in Blakey cemetery.
