The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas J. Reed, 55 chairman of the Catholic Archdiocesan Conservation council, died Friday night while visiting St. Patrick's rectory, 9525 Commercial av. The conservation council handled problems of urban renewal and community problems.
Msgr. Reed was secretary and vice president of the Catholic Extension society. After ordainment in 1927, he was curate of St. Ambrose's church, 1012 E. 47th st. He was born in Chicago, and studied at Quigley and St. Macy's of the Lake seminaries, and De Paul university.
Surviving are two brothers, John, an assistant state's attorney. and Dr. Francis, a physician in Miami Beach. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Name cathedral.
