Funeral services for William L. Lawhorn, one of Garner's oldest residents, were held at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in charge of the Rev. Marion L. Sunderlin. Members of the Odd Fellows lodge attended the services in a group. The remains were taken to Iowa Falls and shipped to the old home in Lena, Illinois, for burial. George, Horace, and Charles accompanied the body.

William L. Lawhorn was born in Jo Davies County, Illinois, July 19, 1836 and passed away at the home of his son, Joseph Lawhorn, on December 26, 1930, at the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 17 days.

He was a child of William L. and Sarah Hickman Lawhorn. On October 28, 1855, he was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Deeds. To this union 11 children were born, namely, Eliza, Julia, Frank, James, William T., George B., Joseph, Josephine, Horace, Ira, and Charles. The wife died January 14, 1918.

The early days of childhood were spent on the homestead farm. He was engaged in farming, stock raising, real estate, public office and various positions of trust and influence. He settled in Crawford County, Wisconsin, on a land warrant but the greater part of his life had been lived in Jo Davies County, Illinois, California, and Hancock County, Iowa.

In the I. O. O. F. Lodge he had served all of the offices in their gift, including past noble grand and was a member more than 60 years.

Those who remain of the immediate family are Mrs. Eliza Stocker of Clear Lake, Minn, William T. of Lena, Illinois; George B. of Garner; Joseph of Garner, Iowa; Mrs. Josephine Byrum of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Horace of Garner, Iowa; Charles of Garner, Iowa. Twenty grandchildren amd forty-four great-grandchildren. One great-grandchild.

Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral Monday were Geo. Lawhorn, Long Beach, California; Mrs. Eliza Stocker and son, Joe, and Will Hatch of Clear Brook, Minnesota; Mrs. and Mrs. Ira Cannon, Ed Cannon, Storm Lake, Iowa; Walter Skene, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Schwartz, Mrs. Francis Skene, Ventura; Mr. & Mrs. Lester Paulson, Miller; Mr. & Mrs. Orris Lundy, Clear Lake; Mr. & Mrs. Will Lawhorn, Swea City; George Lawhorn, Klemme.
