From The Deseret News (Salt Lake City, UT) - 25 January 2000:
Loa Young Clark, 82, passed away January 22, 2000 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born January 26, 1917 in Twin Groves, Idaho to Joseph A. and Valeria Black Young. She was the youngest of six children. She was helpful and loving with her parents and each of her siblings. She was a member of the LDS Church. Graduate of Cyprus High School and Henegers Business College.
Loa was very proud of her two daughters, Jeannie Clark Sakai and Ruesha Clark Snow. She applauded their accomplishments and shared their sorrows.
Loa was proud of her accomplishments during her 30 year career with the U.S. Government. The first position held was that of cashier. Through hard work, persistence and her inherent ability, she became a Federal Adjudicator for the Veterans Administration. She was proud of her success.
Loa loved to travel and shared a Caribbean adventure with her mother, Valeria, who was in her late eighties. An adventure in Disneyland with her great-grandson and daughter was a highlight of her 77th year. She rode all of the rides and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance.
She often visited family from East Coast to West Coast. She loved crossword puzzles and could do the New York Times crossword in pen when the rest of us used pencil because of the need to erase. One thousand piece picture puzzles were another favorite. She faithfully called her sister every morning to do the "Jumble" from the newspaper.
Loa is survived by one sister, Josephine Korous; and two daughters, Jeannie Clark Sakai and Ruesha Clark Snow. Other survivors are four grandchildren, eight great-grand-children and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all. Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph Young and Valeria Black Young, sister, Valeria McPhee, brothers, Virgil, Lester and Roland Young.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the dedicated professionals at the cancer unit of the St. Mark's Hospital and special gratitude to the wonderful caring members of the CNS Hospice. In lieu of flowers, make donations to CNS Hospice, 6949 High Tech Drive #203, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2000 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, where friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
