Charles E. "Bud" Swanner passed away on December 28, 2010 at his home in Spanish Fork. Bud was born October 12, 1917 to Heber E. and Ivie Lorinda Parker Swanner in Kanesville, Utah. He was raised in Spanish Fork and attended the local schools and was a graduate of BYU in 1939 in Accounting and Geology.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 5, 1943 and served during World War II. He flew 55 missions and received the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Bud married Joyce Huff in Spanish Fork, Utah on November 13, 1970. They were later sealed in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. They are the parents of Terri (Gary) Beckstrom; Chad (Teresa) Argyle; Jan Topham; Connie Lowe; Sharon (Glen) Brown; Brent Swanner; and Kaye Lyons. They have 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Bud was part owner of Hurst Redi Mix. Later he owned and operated Swanner's Sporting Goods. He sold many customers their first gun. He loved hunting and fishing and the outdoors. He and Joyce spent many years riding their horses in the canyons. He was a member of the Diamond Fork Riding Club for over 50 years.

Family meant everything to Bud. He loved to play with the grandkids and left us many great memories. He loved to keep a beautiful yard and garden. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Lowe; his parents; sisters, Verla Swanner, Bernice (Blaine) Swenson; Norma (Ercel) Williams; and a brother, Darrell (Myrl) Swanner.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First/Twelfth Ward Chapel, 310 E. Center Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening, January 2, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 S. Main, Spanish Fork and on Monday morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
