Mary Ann McGuire was married to Nathaniel G. Bryan, December 24, 1826, in Bedford Co., Tennessee. I have a copy of her death record and it shows she died in Field Twp., Jefferson Co., IL and will be buried in Rome Twp., Illinois. Polly died of dropsy of the head and chest.
Polly probably isn't buried in this cemetery, but she is buried in Rome Twp. Findagrave won't let you put a memorial up unless there is a cemetery name. The family did live around Dix and Texico.

Polly was the oldest of Thomas and Ann (Lee) McGuire/McGuyer's children. The next girls, Elizabeth, Temperance and Nancy were born in Paint Lick, Garrard/Madison Co., Kentucky.
The McGuires then moved near Shelbyville, Bedford Co., Tennessee. Here Sarah, Catherine, Susan, Lucinda and Cornelius will be born.
Sometime between 1850 and 1860 some of the McGuire/McGuyer family moved to Hopkins (now Delta) county, Texas.

Mary Ann and her family are in the 1830, 1840 and 1850 census. In 1860 they are in Jefferson Co., Illinois. In 1870 Mary is found in the Hopkins Co., Texas census in the household of her daughter, Lenora "Nora" Elizabeth Bryan Carpenter. In 1880 Polly is back in Jefferson Co., Illinos, at her oldest son Thomas W. Bryan's home. Polly is my GGGG grandma and Tom is my GGG grandpa.

Nathaniel G. Bryan is pretty much missing after the July 15, 1860 census. Not sure if he died in Jefferson Co., IL, in Hopkins or Delta Co., TX or somewhere in between. Some people have that
Nathaniel G. Bryan is in Florida. I disagree and think it is 2 separate people with the same name.
He is one of my brick walls. : )

Polly and Nathaniel had the following children:

1. Thomas W. Bryan, who married his first cousin Melea Ann Carpenter. Melea was the daughter of Polly's sister, Temperance. Tom and Melea are buried in West Salem Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, Jefferson Co., Illinois. Melea's name on her headstone is Amelia. Tom served in the Civil War and from his pension file it had that he married Melea Ann Carpenter, August 31, 1849, in Bedford Co. Tennessee. (myGGG grandparents)

2. Sophronia Jane Bryan married James Jackson Williams. Both are buried in Jordan Chapel Cemetery, Dix, Illinois.

3. Anna Lee Bryan was the 2nd wife of Hezekiah Severe Carpenter (some how related to the other Carpenters in this family) on March 4, 1851. From their date of marriage these are the kids.
a) Mary Caledonia Carpenter b. 1852
b) Nancy E. Carpenter b. 1853
c) Laura Tennessee Carpenter b. 1861
d) James Granville Carpenter b. 1864
e) Luella Jane Carpenter b. 1867
Ann probably died since Hezekiah remarried on April 12, 1868.

4. Lenora "Nora" Elizabeth Bryan married Thomas Howard Carpenter (yep, still the same Carpenter family; this is He'szekiah's son. They married January 31, 1856 in Jefferson Co., Illinois.
On the 1870 and 1880 census they are in Hopkins Co., Texas and Delta Co., Texas. Nora died in 1906 and is buried in Frio Cemetery, Fox, Carter Co., Oklahoma.

5. Benjamin C. Bryan. Born abt. 1842 in Bedford Co., Tennessee. Last found on the 1860 Jefferson Co., Illinois census. Alive or dead after 1860?

6. Naomi Priscilla Bryan. Naomi was born 1845 in Bedford Co., Tennessee and in 1860 is found in the Jefferson Co., Illinois census. March 1, 1863 Naomi married James Monroe Visor in Hopkins Co., Texas. Naomi died sometime in 1868. Her son, Hugh Woodrow Visor, was born in Delta (Hopkins) Co., Texas, February 16, 1868.

7. John H. Bryan. John was born abt. 1847 in Bedford Co., Tennessee. Last seen on the 1860 Jefferson Co., Illinois census.
