Obituary
Donald D. ‘Don’ Condon, age 85 passed away Tuesday morning, April 14, 2020 at Compass Park in Franklin. He was a resident of Bargersville and a former resident of Ft Myers, Florida.
Don was born July 26, 1934, in Indianapolis, to the late Ralph and Reba (Schrougham) Condon. He was a retired Tool and Die Maker for General Motors Allison Division in Indianapolis where he worked for more than 42 years. After retirement, he became the owner and operator of Morgantown Hardware during the 1990’s.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Phyllis A. (Essick) Condon, whom she married on June 25, 1952 in Indianapolis. He is also survived by his children, Daniel (Anna Jo) Condon of Trafalgar, Damon (Linda) Condon of Janesville, WI and Debbie (Randy) Nicholson of Bargersville; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by siblings, Victor Condon and Violet Walton.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union, Local 933 in Indianapolis and a former member of the Bargersville Masonic Lodge. Don was the founding member of the Hoosier Hills Traditional Music Society in Martinsville and the former President of the JC Boots and Saddles Club.
He enjoyed traveling, fishing and genealogy. Don also enjoyed tending to his crops and cattle on his family farm. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his storytelling.
Due to the COVID-19 mandate, a private family graveside service will be held at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. A Celebration of Don’s life will be held for family and friends at a later date. Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.
