John enlisted as a private, Seventh Infantry, New York National Guard, April 11, 1917, transferred to 165th Infantry, 42d Division, August 5, 1917, served overseas Nov. 12, 1917-April 12, 1919, taking part in the fighting in the Luneville, Baccarat, Champagne-Marne, Aisne-Marne, St Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne sectors. He was with Army of Occupation in Germany after the armistice; discharged May 7,1919.
John was an author of eight books, contributed articles to numerous periodicals. Unmarried.
Buried in Mount St Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, Conn Survived by a sister, Miss Mary Elizabeth Mahon, and a brother, Edward Fullam Mahon (B S Villanova College 1898, LL.B. New York Law School 1907), both of Brooklyn.
