Virginia “Jiggs” Scoonover, age 73, passed away on April 10, 2020 at Methodist Hospital.

Virginia was born the daughter of Albert and Clara Aswegan on December 2, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Eldora High School in 1965.

Some of her hobbies and interests included crocheting, taking care of her house plants and reading adventure novels.

Above everything, she treasured time spent with her family, grandchildren and cats. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving sons, Brian (Melissa) Lutgen-Scoonover and Jason (Shari) Scoonover; grandchildren, Miles, Hannah, Brendan and Dillon Scoonover and Tessa Bates; sister, Betty (Dave) Ellenwood; brother, James “Jim” Allen Aswegan; ex-husband, Jack Scoonover; boyfriend, Roland “Rollie” Pardun; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jiggs was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robbie Scoonover; daughter, Kristine Bates; granddaughter, Brooke Bates; brothers, Ronald, Dale, Albert Jr., Earl, Donald and Eugene Aswegan; and sisters, Barbara Jean Aswegan, Gladys Eveland and Clara.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family

Due to current circumstances, there will not be any services for Jiggs at this time.

Friends and family will gather at a later date to celebrate her life.
