William Burris Bryan, age 84, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2006. He was born June 6, 1922, in North Middletown, Kentucky, a son of the late James Carroll and Aimee Burris Bryan. He graduated from North Middletown High School, where he co-founded and was first president of the North Middletown Alumni Association. He was a graduate of Washington and Lee University, where he played basketball and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a lifetime member, deacon and elder of North Middletown Christian Church and managed the North Middletown Cemetery for 25 years.

Mr. Bryan was: a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II; co-founder and first president of the Bourbon County Association for Retarded Children; vice-president and executive director of the Kentucky Association for Retarded Children; a consultant for the Developmental Disabilities Department of Mental Health for the state of Kentucky; and director of developmental disabilities for Cave Run Comprehensive Care Center. He was also a gentleman farmer and restaurant owner in his hometown of North Middletown.
