Wittensville resident Thurman Ray Meade, 57, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, in an automobile accident in Scioto County Ohio. Mr. Meade was born January 26, 1944, in Floyd County, KY, to the late Hilbert and Kit Mulkey Meade. He was a disabled Sanitation Department employee.
Surviving are his ex-wife, Jewel Adkins Meade; five daughters: Brenda Foreman, Patricia Meade and Francis Meade, all of Van Lear, KY, Angela Yates of South Portsmouth, KY and Beverly Ann Fannin of Lucasville, Ohio; four brothers, Denver "Gene" Meade, Danny "Joe" Meade and Gordon Meade, all of Ohio, and Robert Meade of Wittensville, KY; six sisters, Sylvia Akers of Louisa, KY, Dorothy Blanton of Lucasville, Ohio, Ressie Reeder, Glenda Meade, Wanda Meade and Brenda Gaines, all of Ohio, and Montana Callahan of Georgia; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Harold Dean Burchett and Jeffery Burchett officiating. Burial followed in Meade Family Cemetery at Wittensville, KY.
