Benjamin Washington Turner was born in Coosawatte Twp., Gordon County, Georgia. In 1992, we found the family farm on Gen. Sherman's Civil War map of farms in the area, then visited the site of the Turner farm.
***Per info from his daughter, Jewel, an infant son, name unknown, was buried in the Old Baptist Cemetery, Pope County, AR. B.W. and Martha "Ellen" were the parents of 12 children. On the 1900 census, Martha Ellen reported that she was the mother of 8 children and only 6 were living, so a baby son was born and died before June 1900.
