He was born in Venango Township, Butler County, on Oct 1, 1898, a son of D. [David] O. and Clara Parker Sloan.
Mr. Sloan was employed by the People's Natural Gas Co. for 17 years before he retired.
His first wife, the former Nora Hovis, died in 1954 [1953]. He later married Ruth R. Crist on March 8, 1957, in Harrisville. She survives.
He was a member of the Clintonville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Clinton (Jean) Fix of Emlenton RD 2; a brother, Charles Sloan of Grove City; four sisters, Mrs. Cora Roxberry of Grove City RD 3, Mrs. Orvil (Bertha) Kaufman of Grove City RD 1, Mrs. Norman (Verda) Van Dyke of Volant RD 1 and Mrs. E. C. ( Lucille ) McConnaughey of Leesburg, Fla.; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Friends may call at the Theodore W. Kuhns Funeral Home in Clintonville, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p. m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday in the funeral home. The Rev. Margaret Dunlap, pastor of the Clintonville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery.
