Kay Frances Smith, 77, the daughter of Floyd Leonard and Vera Grace (Harrison) Bass. She was born 1 June 1942, Enterprize, Kansas. She died at her home 1 April 2020 in Redding, California.
Kay grew up in Bakersfield where she first married Paul Brook Russell. She and Paul later divorced. She then married Lloyd Wesley Smith in McFarland. She moved from Bakersfield to Redding in the 1990's. Before living in Eureka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Lloyd Wesley Smith, sisters Leona Mae Bass and Sylvia Louise Nienstedt, brother's in laws Curtis White and John Nienstedt, and her son Wesley Ray Smith who passed away in Eureka.
Kay is survived by her daughter and son: Judy Irene Russell of Delano, CA and Frederick Keith Smith of Hayward, CA. Her grandchildren: Ezrah Robert Sullivan of Eureka, CA, Kellie Russell of Delano, CA and Frankie Russell of MS. Her brothers and sisters: Robert and Maria Smith of Bakersfield, CA, Darrell Flippin of Westmoreland, KS, Daniel and Betty Bass of Fresno, CA, Linda White of Colusia, CA, LaVera and David Cook of East McKeesport, PA, Tamara and Richard Reiger of Bakersfield, CA, June and Darrell Meeker of Fresno, CA. Her step-father's daughter, Toni Valdez of Bakersfield. Other family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Kay was a very giving person always wanting to help others. She loved sending birthday, anniversary, Christmas, Easter, Valentines cards, etc., any occasions and decorating her home for every holiday. Always sharing her pictures and sending packages full of goodies to her family and friends. Kay enjoyed collecting salt and peppers shakers as well as state spoons.
Allen and Dahl Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
She was cremated per her wishes, no services, and her ashes scattered over the ocean.
