Mrs. Opal Ray Slaughter, 92, of Sardis, MS passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.

Mrs. Slaughter was born on October 10, 1927 in Middleton, TN to the late Denie Wilson Foster and Hugh Foster. She was a member of Union Baptist Church near Sardis, MS.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her best friends and caregivers, Odis and Helen Smith of Sardis, MS and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her sister, Elsie Miller of Tunica, MS. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Ray, Sr. and Frank Slaughter; and her brothers, Lee, Parnell, Odis, Harold, Delmar, Jerry, and Billy.

Private graveside services will be held in Davis Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Arrangements are entrusted to Ray-Nowell Funeral Home.
