Mary Sue Steele Hildreth, 70, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 14, 2017. Mary Sue was born in 1947 in Staunton, Virginia, the daughter of the late Emil and Betty O'Brien Steele.

Mary Sue was a member of St. John's Methodist Church in Spencer, West Virginia for 30 years before moving back home to Virginia. She was also a member of numerous civic and business organizations, including a 40 year membership with the Roller Skating Association. Service to others was a mainstay in her life, leading her to work with various nonprofits. Mary Sue was most proud of her work in the roller skating industry, offering a safe and fun environment for generations of young people. She coached numerous state and national competitive roller skating champions, and served as a mentor beyond their skating years. Mary Sue sponsored many youth who would not otherwise have been able to compete.

Mary Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Hildreth of Spencer, WV, whom she married in 1979, and a granddaughter, Kate Beagle.

She is survived by her 3 daughters and their families: Beth Hindle and Wendy Burns of Stephens City, VA; Angela and Beryl Beagle of Verona, VA; and Lori and Kent Sturgeon of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Ryan Hindle, Rachel Hindle, Haley Burns, Parker Burns, Ella Beagle, Lucy Beagle, Eliza Beagle, and Austin Sturgeon. Mary Sue is also survived by two sisters, Betty Ann Humphreys and Patricia "Tish" Steele Harris, and longtime friend, Charlene Bowen.

The family will receive friends at Henry Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2017 by Pastor Basil Marin. Mary Sue requested that memorial donations be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, #405, Winchester, VA, 22601.
