OSCEOLA Services for LouRena Henderson, 73, of Medco Center, South Bend, formerly of Osceola, who died at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday in St. Josephs Medical Center, South Bend, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Warner Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Heart Association.
Mrs. Henderson was a former waitress at American Turners and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 50, both in South Bend. She was born Aug. 12, 1919, in Glen Rock, Wyo., and lived in the area most of her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Redd of Lake Wales, Fla.; two grandsons; three sisters, Joyce Cole of Osceola, Helen Holloway of Dunkirk, Ind., Frona Garlinger of Bryant, Ind.; and three brothers, George Ford of South Bend, Oscar Ford of Sturgis, and James Ford of LaGrange.
She was a senior volunteer at Medco Center, member of South Bend Moose, American Turners, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 50.

LouRena may or may not have married Erle Eugene Henderson after the birth of her daughter, Sylvia. Sylvia Jane Ford was born 4 July 1937. In 1940 census of 18 May 1940, it shows that LouRena (Henderson) was divorced, living with her parents and her daughter, Sylvia. By 18 May 1940, daughter Sylvia is called Sylvia Jane Henderson. The obituary for Erle Henderson does not mention Sylvia as being his daughter. Also, in the obituary for a son of Erle Henderson, Robert (Bob) Henderson (203671327), Sylvia is not listed as a half sister. Sylvia was still living at the time of Robert (Bob) Henderson's death.
