Dr. J. W. Tenpenny, 77, of Murfreesboro, did Friday. A native of Maryville, he was the son of the late Joe and Ruby Alexander Tenpenny Sr. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery.
He is survived by daughter Lisa Tenpenny, of Murfreesboro; brother Joe Tenpenny Jr., also of Murfreesboro; sister Betty Tenpenny, of Maryville; and granddaughter Stephanie Boaz, of Savannah, Ga.
Dr. Tenpenny was married to the late JoAnn Vorus Tenpenny. He attended MTSU and graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 101st Airborne and was a physician with Murfreesboro Medical Clinic when it was on North Spring Street.
He retired from Alvin York VA Medical Center, where he was Associate Chief of Staff.
Visitation with the family after 11 a.m. Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
