Agatha Pepper "Abby" Fort - Age 68 of Mt. Juliet, TN, formerly of Winnsboro, SC and Shelbyville, TN, passed away on July 4, 2011 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert B. Fort and Mary Pepper Fort. She is survived by siblings, James Fort, Robert Fort and Elizabeth Fort Edwards; several nieces, cousins and many friends. Born on August 14, 1942 in Detroit, MI, Agatha grew up in Hogansville, GA and Winnsboro, SC and graduated from Mt. Zion Institute in Winnsboro. She attended Columbia College and graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. She later earned her Master's degree from Michigan State University. Agatha taught elementary school in Charleston, SC for 15 years, before joining the Department of Defense Dependent Schools, where for almost 30 years, she taught elementary school and later ESI, in Europe and Asia. Funeral services will be held at one o'clock the afternoon of Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Scales Chapel at West End United Methodist Church, 2200 West End Avenue in Nashville. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery in Wartrace, TN at ten o'clock the morning of Friday, July 8, 2011. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alive Hospice, 1716 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203.
