Mrs. Flora J. Allard Dies At Hospital
The death of Mrs. Flora J. Allard of 702 Gage street at 9 o'clock this morning at Putnam Memorial hospital following a brief illness of pneumonia, removes another of Bennington's octogenarians. Mrs. Allard a life-long and highly respected resident of Bennington, was 80 years old, daughter of the late Charlotte Sibley and George W. Fradenburgh.
In the year 1896, she was married to Henry S. Allard, who died 30 years ago. Her schooling had been received in Bennington and for a time before her marriage, she was employed at the old Rockwood plant.
In her long life, she had been a home person, deeply devoted to her family who will deeply miss her. She had been active about her home until about a week ago. Of an unassuming way, she had made many friends in her four score years.
She leaves one daughter, Katherine; two sons, John W. of Pittsfield, Mass., and Joseph H. of Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Joseph P. Allard of Bennington, Richard Allard of Pittsfield, Mrs. William DeForge jr. of Bennington and Mrs. R. F. Duncum of Lynchburg, Va.; five great grandchildren, Betty, Frank, Laura Joy and Veronica Jo of Lynchburg and Joseph H. 2nd of Bennington; two nieces, Mrs. Ella Connelly of Bennington and Mrs. Laura Roswell of Amsterdam, N.Y.
Funeral arrangements are pending, but will be from St. Francis de Sales church, of which she had been a devoted member.
