Shirley Mae (Odde) Ochsner was born on April 3, 1936 to Arne and Ragna (Torsieth) Odde on the family homestead at Pollock, SD. She graduated from Selby High School in 1954. She chose clerical work as her profession. She started her career at International Harvester in the office. She then worked for Vogele Clinic for many years. Her final place of employment was Norwest Bank where she worked for twenty-one years. She was pleased to have met so many special people through the years.

Shirley married Donald ‘Don’ Ochsner in Herreid on December 26, 1958 and they made their home in Aberdeen, SD. Two children were born to this marriage.

Shirley was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge. She loved cooking and baking for her whole family and most of all, loved spending time with her grandkids. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed quilting with the ladies of the church. She and Don loved to travel and went on many cruises, including to Hawaii, Alaska, the Panama Canal and the Caribbean, as well as various trips through the USA. They purchased a winter home in Yuma, AZ, and continued to use it until her health failed.
