Elizabeth (Betty) L. Aga (née Unger) went peacefully Home to the Lord on April 2, 2020. Betty was born May 1, 1925 in Fergus Falls, MN to Albert Unger, Sr. and Eleanor Unger (nee Lohmeier). She grew up in Fergus Falls, MN graduating from high school in 1943. She completed nurses training at Abbott- Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN and served as an RN in Alexandria, MN, Santa Barbara, CA and San Diego, CA. Betty married Dr. John H. Aga in 1951, and they were blessed with 5 children whom they raised in Rochester and Brainerd, MN and enjoyed 54 years together.

Betty loved the arts and enjoyed attending musical concerts (especially when one of her children or grandchildren were performing), theater performances, and the opera. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, needlework, gardening and rosemaling. Golfing was her favorite sport and she also enjoyed cheering on her sons and grandchildren at many ski races at Ski Gull.

Betty’s advice given at her 50th high school class reunion was “Live each day to its fullest - enjoy life.” She lived by this motto and pulled her strength from her faith in God. She always made the best out of every situation and her laughter was infectious. Betty had the heart of a servant which was exemplified by her many years of volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hospital Auxiliary (over 40 years), Service League, Meals on Wheels, Blue Bird and Campfire Girls leader, and Cub Scout den mother.

Betty enjoyed family trips throughout the U.S. and international trips to Norway and Spain with John. Her favorite vacation spot, however, was the Aga family cabin on Lake Lida in Ottertail County, MN.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dr. John H. Aga, brothers Albert Unger Jr. and Thomas Unger, and daughter Sandra Kay Aga.

Betty is survived by four children, Cynthia (Ron) Gohl of St. Paul, MN; Susan Aga Hagen of Murray, UT; Steven Aga of Red Lodge, MT and Jeffrey (Sarah) Aga of Brainerd, MN; 5 grandchildren, Benjamin Hagen of Minneapolis, MN; Jonathan (Shaina) Aga of Brooklyn Park, MN; Nelson Aga of Brainerd, MN; Molly Aga of Buckeye, AZ and Emily Aga of Brainerd, MN; and 1 great-grandson, Eli Aga.

Betty’s children would like to thank the Oakwood House staff for the compassionate care given to her the past few years and to the medical team at The Brainerd Hospital who attentively provided kindness and comfort in her last days.
