He was a former greens keeper for Kanawha Country Club and was retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education. James had been a longtime resident of South Charleston.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Hill; brother, Charles Hill of Dunbar; sister, Clara Mae Eversole of Winchester, Ky and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 24, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Lee Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in Fox Hill Cemetery.
