Calvin J. Alexander 1908-2010 VERNON Calvin J. Alexander, 102, of West Rd. Vernon Vt. died at home on Tuesday September 28. He was born in Williamstown, Vt. on March 29, 1908, the son of Jules and Florence Hemenway Alexander. He was employed for New England Hydro-Electric at the Vernon Station for 32 years prior to retiring. He loved his farm and farming in general. He was a handyman and enjoyed fixing anything. He married the former Doris Clark on June 13, 1928. Mrs. Alexander predeceased him in 1991 after 62 years of marriage. He is survived by two daughters; Joyce Stevens and her husband Richard of Wakefield, Mass. and Cynthia Hill of Haddam, Conn., and his daughter in law Lucy Alexander of Pottstown, Pa. He is also survived by two sisters: Cesarine Stoddard of Brookfield, Vt. and Lucille Knowles of Plainfield, Vt. Nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Robert who died in an auto accident in 1975, and a brother, John, and three sisters, Mabel, Sadie and Stella. A special thank you goes to Tammy Forrett who has been his devoted caregiver for many years and to all her assistants who helped to make his stay at home possible. A memorial service will be held next Saturday October 9, at 11 a.m., at the Vernon Union Church. The Rev. Dr. George Nye, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Tyler Cemetery, Vernon, Vt. Following the service friends, and family may gather downstairs in the church for refreshments and remembering the good times with Calvin and Doris.
