She was found as the only survivor of a massacre, when her adopted father Henry Harrison Hewitt rode up on the site. She was an infant, wrapped in a blanket and hidden the brush and was crying. She was adopted into the family and raised as a daughter.
She married Enoch Dempsey Bradley in 1882 in Pike Co, Arkansas. To this marriage, 6 children were born.
