Eldest child/daughter of John "Jack" Thomas Maddox and Adriana Corneila Gough, both of Maryland.

She married Seward M. Bacon in January of 1921 in Washington, DC. He was the son of Levi Seward Bacon who was a DC patent attorney and inventer, and Nettie Preston Shafer.

Seward had been a veteran of WWI as a Corporal in the Army Field Artillery, and was occupied as a patent and general practice attorney.

They started a family in DC, having three offspring:
1. Seward Maddox, b.1923
2. Robert Shafer, b.1925
3. Elizabeth Neale, b.1928 (Mrs. H.P. Clifford)

Both sons served in the Navy and Army, and Betty married a Navy man...

They lived their entire lives in Washington DC and Maryland...
