James B. Henshaw, age 88 of Hillsboro, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Swaim, Alabama on May 8, 1931, the only child to the late Boyd Henshaw and Zella (Isbell) Henshaw Campbell. James retired from Riverdale Chemical in Chicago Heights, Illinois, where he had been employed as an Assistant Plant Manager. He had also worked for Tyson, Wilton, and Lee during his career. A dedicated member of Walnut Grove Methodist Church, James loved witnessing for God and had served his church family and community as Treasurer at Harvey Free Methodist Church, President of the Men’s Group at Walnut Grove Methodist Church, and on the Pastor, Parrish Relationship Committee. Most of all, he cherished his family, kids, grandkids, and the love of his life Ruth, his wife of sixty-nine years. James enjoyed gardening, farming, and working cattle, and he was an avid Alabama Fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Henshaw; and grandson, Danny Shasteen. James is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Henshaw; children, Wanda J. Thomas of Hillsboro; Sandy McKinney of Manchester, Jimmy (Annette) Henshaw of Hillsboro, and Ila (Earl) Riddlebarger of McMinnville; grandchildren, Terry Thomas, Ronnie (Lori) Thomas, Bethany (Dennis) Massey, Donnie (Tammy) Elliott, Amber Hill, Amy Merriman, and Ashton (Michelle) Huggins; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee Thomas, Chelsea Thomas, Ashlyn Thomas, Shayla Massey, Danielle Thomas, Shelby Massey, Isaiah Thomas, Kailee Merriman, Kasi Hill, Braxton Elliott, Carter Elliott, Maggi Hill, and Raelyn , Josh, Brooke, and Donna Huggins. Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Rev. Rickey Wade officiating. The register book and memorial cards will be available under the carport of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home from 12:30-2:30 pm on Sunday, March 29, 2020. An attendant will be available to assist you.
