Upon further research:
Pvt. Agren was killed in action aboard the U.S. troopship Tuscania after it was torpedoed by the German U-boat UB-77 and sunk off the coast of the Scottish island of Islay on Feb. 5, 1918.
He was buried in Kilnaughton, Islay, on Feb. 12, 1918; his remains were later exhumed for reburial at Jewell Cemetery.
