Also surviving are two daughters, Jodi Nichoalds and her fiance, Jim Lindsay of Peoria and Janine Nichoalds and her fiance, John Katzianer of Limington, Maine; two sisters, Kathy (Steve) Ford of Trivoli, Ill., and Barbara (Jerry) Pruitt of Pekin, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Foley of Arnold, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Foley; and a nephew, Scott Ford.
Edie graduated from Academy of Our Lady in 1965. She also graduated from Flamingo School of Cosmetology.
She was one of the founding members of the Peoria Cancer Center, a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Legion of Honor, First Lady of GLSALOH and was a volunteer driver for the Mohammed Shriners Children's Hospital transportation.
She worked as a hairdresser and was a special education aide at Oak Grove East. She owned and operated a natural food store in Norwood called Edie's Naturals and was currently working at Alpha Park Public Library.
She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved everyone she met. She was a 15-year survivor of Leukemia. Her motto was, "If there's anything more fun than life, I'd like to know what it is."
She sang in the choir and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
