Shirley Pauline Hunter Vanderbilt
February 11, 1943 - March 8, 2020
(77 years old) Willow Springs, Missouri

Shirley Pauline Vanderbilt, a resident of Willow Springs, passed
away Sunday, March 8, 2020, while at Willow Care Nursing Home.

She was born February 11, 1943 to Francis Marion and Ola (Keeler) Hunter in Wichita, Kansas. Shirley grew up in Wichita where she attended the local area schools and graduated from high school.

She enjoyed being a homemaker, as well as farming, dancing, bowling, and cooking; however, her favorite pastime was planting and caring for her flowers. She enjoyed going to church and was a faithful member of the Burnham General Baptist Church.

It has been said she was fun to be around, had a great personality, and was loved by many. She will be greatly missed by her family, her friends, and all who knew her.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Francis Marion and Ola Hunter (Keeler); her husband, Ivan Morfitt, Jr., her ex-husband, Roy Vanderbilt; and her siblings: John Hunter, Georgie Cole, Goldie Hunter, Gloria Reiz, Joe Hunter, and Marion Hunter.

She is survived by her brother, Jim Hunter; two sisters, Kay Roberts and Marilyn Crown; her children: Lori Clinton and her husband, Coy; Ivan Morfitt and his wife, Marianne; and Jennifer Abbott. Further survivors include her grandchildren: Daniel Morfitt, Jeramy Lacey, and Audrey McQuery and her husband, Dan. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Kaylee, Isaiah, Isabella, Skyla, Aaidan, Kaidyn, Athena, and Lilleth, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be hosting a “going away party” in Shirley’s memory in July of 2020 in Wichita, Kansas. The time and place for her memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Shirley’s ashes will be sprinkled in Oklahoma in Lake Eufaula where she and husband had land. It now belongs to her daughter Lori who also lives in Willow Springs. But, she is hoping to have a family gathering when this Virus goes down or completely away. She has not seen her nieces or nephews for years and wants everyone to come. She is planning to pay for the luncheon for all.
