Jerald Lee Park, age 78, of Eagles Mere, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte.

Lee was born April 9, 1929 in Eagles Mere, son of the late Donald H. and Mabel M. Horn Park.

He graduated from the Sullivan Highland High School a member of the class of 1946. He served in the US Army in WW II and Korea. After the war he graduated from Drexel University in 1958 with a degree in Engineering.

He married the former Alma Stell and they resided in Brookfield, Conn. She predeceased him in 1991.

Lee worked for many years for Perkin Elmer Engineering Corp. in Norwalk, Conn., where he worked on the Hubble Space Telescope Project. He retired to Eagles Mere in 1985 where he operated the Shady Lane Lodge for several years.

Lee was a member of the Eagles Mere Community Church and a member of the Eagles Mere Laporte Lions Club. He was active in his community and was generous with his time and talent. He was a caring individual and sponsored two foreign exchange students, Jochen Kirchhoff and Basti Bruchmann both of Germany. He also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Terri Park of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a daughter, Susan Iannuzzi of Mildred; brother, Ray Park of Waco, Texas; four sisters, Doris Roby, Sayre, Jane Beachem, Huntersville, Ruth Hild, Eagles Mere, and Gwen Klus of Laporte; seven grandchildren, Robert Park, Jonas Park, Dylan Park, Conor Park, Hanah Park, Krystal Iannuzzi and Michael Lee Iannuzzi and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Ann Hessert of Talamadge, Ohio and a brother, Hugh Park of Whitehall, Md.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Eagles Mere Community Church with the Rev. Robert W. Brown, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Eagles Mere Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday, Aug. 3, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Eagles Mere Community Church, c/o Elaine Mudrick, PO Box 305, Eagles Mere, PA 17731-0305 or the Alzheimer's Association, NE Region, 63 North Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
