Caleb Richardson served as a soldier in the French & Indian War (1765) in the Mohawk Valley in NY and was Captain of the Garrison at the Battery in New York City during the Revolutionary War, covering George Washington's evacuation before British troops forced him to move the capitol to Philadelphia. After the Revolutionary War, he was Justice of the Peace in Attleboro, Mass. In 1790 he joined with the "Nine Partners" to purchase a tract of land in Northeast Pennsylvania situated in what is now Susquehanna County. He was married to Esther Tiffany Richardson, sister of Hosea Tiffany.
