Born Catharina Gutmann daughter of Johann Stephan Gutmann (Stephan Goodman)a weaver and farmer, who arrived from Germany in Philadelphia on November 9, 1738, aboard the ship "Charming Nancy", and his wife Eva Margaretha Schmidt. Stephan and Margaret were married March 23, 1739, by Rev. John Casper Stoever in Merion, Pennsylvania. Stephan owned a 100 acre farm which the city center of Ardmore, PA presently sits upon. Catharine was one of seven children.
She married Charles Kugler in 1776-1777.
Her property is listed as for sale by C. J. Wolbert, auctioneer, pursuant to Charles Kugler's last will and testament durng the last part of March 1830, after Catharine had died. Her children, Benjamin and Elizabeth were the executors. Sales notices were posted in the Philadelphia Inquirer from at least March 19, to March 30, on various days.
