Jazz Musician. A bassoonist, baritone saxophonist and flutist, he is remembered for his three decade tenure with the Jazz ensemble "Sun Ra and the Arkestra." Raised in Los Angeles, his father was a scientist, his mother was a interior decorator, Danny had ambitions of becoming an actor. After graduating from high School, he moved to New York where he studied music at Juilliard College. He met Sun Ra which led to his first professional stage performance in 1967 prior to his turning twenty-years of age. As a member of "Arkestra" Thompson would go on to contribute musically on more then 30 albums beginning with "Atlantis" (1969). He appeared in the motion picture "Space Is the Place" (1974). He left the music industry for a decade during the 1990s and worked for the government. During the 2000s, rejoined the lineup of "Arkestra" following the death of their leader Sun Ra in 1993.
