Virginia Lee Wilkins, 82, of Kell, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Fireside Nursing Home in Centralia, IL.
Virginia was born January 29, 1938, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the daughter of Eugene “Gene” and Lorryne “Peg” Hinderer. She married Louis Wilkins May 7, 1956, and he preceded her in death.

Virginia was a beautician, she taught cosmetology and operated her own beauty salon “DeAnn’s” in Centralia, Illinois and she also had her shop in Kell. She served on the Village Board and served as Mayor of Kell for two terms from 1986 to 1994. She enjoyed researching local history and her family genealogy and traveled many miles to gather the extensive information she collected. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Revolution. She dearly loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

In accordance with the Governor’s Directives, a Private Family Service will be held with Pastor Ron Periman officiating with burial to follow at the Zion Grove Cemetery near Kell. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Grove Cemetery Fund, Main Street Christian Church of Kell or Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at L.R. Osborn and Son Funeral Home at PO Box 39 Kell, Illinois 62853. It is the families sincerest wish to gather with Virginia’s extended family and many friends later in the summer when this crisis has passed.
