After her first husband, Joe Brownfield drown in the Red River, Alta Mae married Frank "Buck" Erwin. Alta Mae was injured in an auto accident. She developed gangrene in her leg which had to be amputated. However, the medical care was not enough and she passed away October 10, 1937 In Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, leaving her two young children (Wanda & Edward) for my grandparents to rise. Buck Erwin graciously returned the children to my grandparents.)

Mrs. Buck Irving of Telephone, Texas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Thomas of Crowder Springs, passed away Monday as a result of a car wreck near Tishomingo last Thursday. Interment was made in Crowder Springs cemetery Tuesday. Mrs. Irving attended high school here and will be remembered as Miss Alta May.
