James R. Braden, 75, of Alton died at 7:02 P.M. at St. Joseph Hospital following a lengthy illness.
A son of the late James Milton and Florence (Batty) Braden, he was born in Barr Township, Macoupin Co. IL and was employed at the Alton Box Board for 35 years, retiring as Forman in 1965. He married the former Mary Wright-Raeske in 1929 and she died Dec. 21, 1968. James and Mary had the following children: James Gail and Jere Eugene. James also raised a step son: Wayne Charles Jerome Raeske. James siblings were: Nellie Mildred, Coy Wayne, Roy Murl and a half brother Frank Allen DeMunbrun.
