Ron was born the first son of Rocco J Scalone and Mildred Brenna Scalone in Queens County, New York City. He grew up in Jamaica Estates Queens and went to P. S. 35 grammar school. He had an older sister, Carolyn and younger brother, Victor. He graduated from Jamaica High School in 1955 and enlisted in the New York Air National Guard sometime thereafter. Serving as a flight line mechanic he was stationed at Amarillo Air Force base and then with the Plattsburg Strategic Air Command in Plattsburg, New York. Upon completion of service time he attended the New York Institute of Technology, graduating as a design engineer. In 1962 he married, Mary Ann Murphy and in the coming years would have three children, Rocco, Galen and Carla while living in Port Jefferson, New York. Over the years he worked in the design field for Grumman Aerospace and other technical firms on Long Island as a contract worker. He also operated his own gas station venturing into the field of self-employment. He eventually relocated to New Port Richie, Florida in 1984 and established an engineering consulting firm. Ron was an avid fisherman and boater throughout his adult life. In his younger years he enjoyed fast cars and hot rods. In the 1990’s he moved to Georgia in semi-retirement. In later years he moved back to New York for health reasons. He passed away peacefully at the Patchogue Rehabilitation facility on March 17, 2020.
