Benjamin F. Gordon, 92, of McComb, died July 4, 1996, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Visitation in 5-9 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home of McComb, continuing at 8 a.m. Saturday until services there at 10 a.m., with Dr. Jimmy Porter, the Rev. Gary Shows and the Rev. Ed Sudduth officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

Mr. Gordon was born Aug. 24, 1903, in Amite County. He was the son of Hewitt Gordon and Amy McMillan Gordon.

He was retired from the Illinois Central Railroad and a member of First Baptist Church of McComb. He was a Mason and a member of the York Rite Order.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lorraine Hewitt Gordon.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James L. and Ruth B. Gordon of Hattiesburg; two sisters, Mrs. Murphy Sylvest and Mrs. Herman Dukes, both of Jackson; one grandson, David L. Gordon of Reno, Nev.; one granddaughter, Donna R. Gordon of Hattiesburg; and a number of nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jack Gatlin, Henry L. Gordon, Thomas Ray Gordon, James L. Dukes, Carl Dukes, Tommy Smith, Paul Dykes and Edward Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class of First Baptist Church.
