Sherman – Mrs. Kirkpatrick was born in Farmersville, Texas to W. Riley & Minnie Etta Kirkpatrick. She graduated from Sulphur Springs, Texas schools and attended Wesley College in Greenville, Texas for two years. She died at Wilson N. Jones Regional Health System in Sherman.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She married James Hailey Kirkpatrick, the son of Mr. & Mrs. R.V. Kirkpatrick, in Sulphur Springs, on Saturday, February 13, 1937, a loving marriage that lasted a short 16 years due to his untimely demise.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick was the first person to be Hostess for Welcome Wagon, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the International Toastmistress Club (ITC) for 25 years. She was a Postmistress at Austin College, Sherman, for 11 years, worked at Mrs. Stewman's Ladies Wear at Sher-Den Mall for two years and was a teacher's aid at Sherman schools upon retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her son, Riley Victor (Mike) Kirkpatrick of Sherman; brother, Paul and his wife Peggy Kirkpatrick of Sulphur Springs; sister-in-law, Mrs. Omer Kirkpatrick also of Sulphur Springs; nephew, Seba Kirkpatrick of Rogue River, Oregon; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman, with Reverend John Kay of the First United Methodist Church, and Reverend R. James Shupp of Fairview Baptist, officiating.
