Rolland Franklin Rowlette, Sr., 89, of Sedalia, died Tuesday morning, September 2, 2003 at his home. He was born November 16, 1913, in Sedalia, son of Kenneth B. and Augusta D. Furnell Rowlette. He married Helen Patton who preceded him in death and on Septmeber 3, 1971, in Miami, Oklahoma, he married Glenna M. Mueller-Kreisler, who survives of the home. Mr. Rowlette was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Moose Lodge 1494, where he held a fellowship degree, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591, American Legion Post 642, Masonic Lodge 29 A.F. and A.M. in Windsor, Missouri, Sedalia Scottish Rite Club, Scottish Rite Mason, Ararat Shrine, Sedalia Shrine Club, and Legion of Honor Shrine. He was formerly a member of BPOE Elks Lodge 1034, the Missouri Cattlemen's Association, and Fraternal Order of Eagles 3667. He owned and operated Rowlette Sod and Contracting, which he started in 1958, until he retired in July of 2003. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II from 1944 to 1946 in the First Infantry, serving 14 months in England, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium and Czechoslovakia. He loved his work, socializing with everyone, nature, feeding birds and sitting on the deck watching them, and country and western bands and dancing.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna M. Rowlette of the home; three sons, Rolland F. "Frank" Rowlette, Jr. of North Kansas City, Missouri; Kenneth Rowlette of Sedalia; Gary Kreisler of Ohio; three daughters, Sundra Comfort of Sedalia Martha Dotson of North Carolina, and Diane Kreisler of Sedalia; two sisters, Jewel Morgenstern and Mary Lou Cave, both of Sedalia; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. the following Friday at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel with Bishop Harry B. Young, Jr., David Furnell and Duane Furnell officiating.

Burial was with military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591. Pallbearers were Charles Woods, Bill Hammerly, John Lange, Don Walz, Leo Richards and Don Tappana. Honorary pallbearers were Russell Craig, Leroy Klein, Don Wheeler, Bob Weikal, Ed Vaught, Charles Sadler and Shorty Ackers.The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel with Masonic services following at 8:00 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Bothwell Hospice, Open Door Benevolent Ministries or the Salvation Army Food Pantry.
