Kenneth Donald Barry was born in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. He was later living in Portland, Oregon.

He was a passenger on the CH-53A helicopter #TN-153710 when it hit the side of a mountain 15 kilometers from Ba Long Airfield. The helicopter crashed and burned. There were 5 crew members and 41 passengers on board with no survivors.
