Angelo was born in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy on June 8, 1920, son of the late Giovanni and Giocondina (Perugini) Guerrera. Being a proud veteran, Angelo served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, experiencing the “Battle of the Bulge” and receiving the “Good Conduct” and “Victory” medals. During WWII Angelo served as a cook, which was something he loved doing for his fellow comrades. Angelo worked as a machinist for Iseli Screw Company for twenty-one years as well as Sears & Roebuck for twenty years.
Always being known for his operatic voice, Angelo loved singing and acting in plays for Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Dancing was another hobby Angelo loved, which he did while being a member of the Cha-Rum-Bo Club. His family will always remember the fresh vegetables Angelo grew in his garden as well as all of the hard work he did on all of their homes.
Besides his wife Nanda of 68 years, Angelo leaves to cherish his memory, his two children, Sandra Swan and her husband Joseph of Morris, John Guerrera and his wife Christine of Northfield, CT, his five grandchildren, Rebecca Sakl and her husband Eddie, Christopher Swan, Casie Guerrera, Nicholas Guerrera, Alexa Guerrera and his two great grandchildren, Analise and Benjamin Sakl.
Arrangements: A funeral will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to St. Lucy’s Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery with military honors. Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The members of the Pontelandolfo Community Club will perform their service Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
