In April 1835, Maria Fedorovna with her youngest children went to Darovoe. In a letter from Mikhail Andreyevich dated April 29, the first evidence of the onset of her serious illness appears. Mikhail, Fyodor and Andrey were preparing for exams at the guesthouse at this time. They could now come to Darovoe only for a month in July-August. After the birth of her daughter in July, Maria Fedorovna’s disease worsened.
The next summer of 1836 in Darovoy was the last for her. In the fall, Maria Fedorovna completely became ill. Andrei Dostoevsky later recalled: “from the beginning of the new year, 1837, Mama’s condition worsened very much, she almost did not get out of bed, and since February she completely fell”. Doctor colleagues tried to help the wife of Mikhail Andreevich, but neither potions nor advice helped]. On February 27, Maria Fyodorovna Dostoevskaya died before she was thirty-seven years old. March 1, she was buried in the Lazarevsky cemetery.
