Franklin Stokes, 91, of Danville, passed away at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2020 at O.S.F. Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville.

Franklin (Bud) was born May 14, 1928 at his parent’s home near Cayuga, Indiana. His parents were John and Gertrude Stokes, who preceded him in death in 1972. He was the fourth of five siblings and all preceded him in death.

He married Anita Joyce Morgan of Georgetown on December 26, 1951. After more than 50 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on July 24, 2008.

Frank is survived by two sons, John (Anita) Stokes of Westville and Brian (Aimee) Stokes of Westin, Florida. He had five grandchildren, Jessica (Butchie) Smith and Kristina Stokes of Westville, also Dana Aponte, Ryan Stokes and Katie Stokes, all living in Florida. He had nine great grandchildren and a sister-in-law Meredith Stokes of Olivet. As well as several nephews and nieces.

Frank was a Korean War veteran with the air force from 1951 to 1955. After returning to Danville, he worked for over 30 years at Olin in Covington, Indiana. After several years in supervision he retired in 1982.

His hobbies were electronics, wood working and coin collecting. He was active in Native American affairs and owned several motorcycles over the years. He became a Jehovah’s witness in 1972 and served faithfully until his death.
