Billy “Billy Goat” Don Mitchell, 66, of Hartshorne, died Friday, March 13 at his residence surrounded by his family. Billy was born on March 24, 1953 in Stigler. Billy grew up in the Stigler area and graduated from Stigler High School in 1971. He graduated from Tulsa Welding School.

He married Minnie Louise Sam on December 30, 1981 in Paris, Texas.

Bill worked as a heavy equipment operator in the coal mines and then as a long-haul truck driver. He worked as the foreman for Latimer County District 1 for fifteen years.

Bill loved to bale hay, loved gardening, and he enjoyed taking his grandkids to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his birth father: Floyd Lee Pearson, his mother: Virgie Lois (Smith) Mitchell, adoptive father: Houston Verl Mitchell, brother: Danny Eugene Mitchell, and sisters: Vickie Pilgreen and Debbie Pearson.

He is survived by his wife: Louise of the home; children: Charlene Marie Crawford and husband, Ronnie of Gowen, Tommy Don Mitchell and wife, Janice of Hartshorne, Kimberly Pease and husband, Christopher of Hartshorne; grandchildren: Tosha Nichole Peace and husband, Shane, Payton Allen Crawford, Landon Ryan Mitchell, Alexander Lee Pease, Grayson Reed Mitchell, Ryatt Izaya Pease; great-grandchildren: Shania Capri Pease, Remington Ruth Peace, Payson Riley Crawford, Gunner Lee Peace, Ally Marie Crawford, Gage Dallen Crawford; brother: Glen Mitchell and wife, Rita of Mulberry, Arkansas; and other numerous family members and friends.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2020 at Bishop Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Rev. George Mantooth. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Haywood.

Pallbearers will be Payton Crawford, Shane Peace, John Hardin, Landon Mitchell, Chris Pease, and Ronnie Crawford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Mitchell, Grayson Mitchell, Ryatt Pease, Sonny Sam, George Timmons, and Alexander Pease.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
