MRS. C.D. BELDEN

Austin and Mower County loses another of its splendid women in the death of Mrs. C.D. Belden. She has been identified with the social church and home life of this city ever since she came here in her young womanhood. She has done her work, carried her burdens and never shifted them to others shoulders. People trusted and loved her, and when they turned to her for sympathy and help they never met with disappointment. A good friend, a good mother, and a good woman has been called home.

Francelia Louise West was born in Stockton, NY November 7, 1843. She was the daughter of Lewis and Miranda B. (Husbrook) West. Her father was a native of Stockton, NY and came to Mitchell Co. IA. in 1854 locating at Otranto.

Miss West was married to John Solner Crandall at Otranto in June, 1859 and they came to Austin soon afterward to reside. He died here in 1873, leaving three children, Catherine who married Mr. Lobb and died about 13 years ago, Jennie residing in Austin and who has been with her mother during her illness and at the time of her death, and John who now resides in Yankton, SD.

June 27, 1877 Mrs. Crandall was married to Rev. C.D. Belden, pastor of the Baptist Church. He died August 25, 1915, leaving one daughter Antoinette, wife of Earl C. Varco of Sidney, MT.

Mrs. Belden has been poorly for the past year suffering from heart trouble. On Friday she had eaten her dinner as usual and was sitting in her chair when the summons came. She was a faithful member of the Baptist Church and of the WRC.

The notice of the funeral is pending on the arrival of the son from SD and the daughter from MT. who will wish to attend.
