Dr. Raymond N. Holliwell, a minister, educator, author and lecturer, died Aug. 2, 1986, at his Phoenix residence. Dr. Holliwell, a resident of Atlantic City, N.J., and a winter resident of Phoenix since 1946, moved to Arizona three years ago. He was born in Altoona, Pa. He was a minister and Dean of the Broadwalk School of Christian Philosophy and its seminary in Atlantic City, N.J. for 12 years and was associated with New Thought Teaching, a world-wide movement representing metaphysical schools and churches, for more than 35 years.
In 1941, he and his late wife, Loura May, founded the School of Christian Philosophy in Atlantic City with extensions and churches in other cities. He was author of 28 books, journal and magazine articles and for many years he had his own radio program. For his books, The World’s Destiny and Working with the Law, he was awarded honorary memberships in the National Association of Authors and Journalists and the International Mark Twain Society. He was a former president of the International New Thought Alliance and a former editor of its international newsletter. Before retiring in 1977, he spent nine months as senior minister of the Church of Christian Philosophy in Phoenix. Following his retirement he remained active as Dean of the School of Christian Philosophy in Phoenix. Survivors include his sisters, Clara Stear and Jane Biederman and brother, James. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today with services at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Green Acres Mortuary chapel, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale.
